One Hard Thing Blog

Welcome to my blog!

The purpose of the blog is to provide background in-depth exploration of concepts and ideas that may surface in either the podcast, or the tools, or both.

If you don’t like in-depth written exploration of concepts, please feel free to totally skip these posts! I am the type of person who reads the prologues, epilogues, and author notes to books I love. This blog probably functions as those sorts of “extra paragraphs” for people who just need more and really do want to dive deep into the words we use to categorize and organize our thoughts about inclusion (or lack thereof).

I will try to link to relevant podcast episodes and other pages in this website. I also am going for a certain amount of “wondering” out loud that could stimulate discussion, either via the comments, the contact OHT form, or responses on social media (Instagram, etc.). I realize that putting my ideas out there is a special form of arrogance, but I also find it so calming to state what I believe in a way that agrees with my soul. That is what I hope you find some of here. Agreement with your soul. And if there is disagreement with your soul, perhaps that is worth noting, and maybe even stating, kindly, respectfully, and with as much logic as you can find!

The title of this website reflects my thesis. It is not that just, authentic, and comprehensive, inclusion is even truly possible. It is that hard. It is an ideal, an aim, a journey, a goal worth a certain amount of sacrifice. I hope to encourage other journeyers to do one thing. Those one hard things do add up. We get it wrong so often. But doing nothing is far worse – at least, over time, and with that lack of perfection as an excuse for a failure to even try to learn from when we do get it wrong.

I want to think more clearly. Live more intentionally. Act more congruently with my true values. Learn more openly and honestly about the perspectives I can never have. But share as openly and honestly the perspective I have been given.

This form of expression suits me, in my own diverse way. I like to read, and I like to write, and I have a way of doing so. I am therefore experiencing inclusion in the best sense. I want that feeling for you, and for all the kids.
