Everyone learns at their own pace, in their own way, paying attention to what matters most to them.
Is this a problem? Or just perfect?
How important are age, gender, appearance, normative skills, or intelligence to identity? These are all spectrum quantifiers…two dimensional at best.
What about instead establishing identity by using interest in, and progression towards, subjectively meaningful skill development? Orienting could be done in relation to: arts, science, math, language, physical skills, ethics, human relationships, inner knowing….
Human characters could be described in not just two or even three dimensional terms, but four.
